The Flamboyant Tree

The flamboyant tree is without a doubt one of the brighter protagonists of the Caribbean landscape. Although it’s becoming rare to encounter in the wild, you can still spot quite a few of them in private properties. Symbol of emancipation, this tree has been rightfully elevated to national status and it is not uncommon to find it represented in Caribbean paintings or even in stamps.

Yesterday, this dazzling scarlet cloud on my way to Grand-Case could not possibly escape my gaze. Stunning, right?
